Chelsea Return to Top of the Table with Impressive Win

London, England – February 4, 2024 – Chelsea Women returned to the top of the Women's Super League table with a dominant 7-0 victory over Everton Women at Kingsmeadow on Sunday evening.
The Blues were clinical in front of goal, with Erin Cuthbert scoring a hat-trick and Guro Reiten netting twice from the penalty spot. Fran Kirby and Sam Kerr also got on the scoresheet as Chelsea extended their unbeaten start to the season.
The hosts took the lead in the 12th minute when Kirby found the net. Reiten doubled the advantage from the spot just before the half-hour mark after Cuthbert was fouled in the area.
Cuthbert made it 3-0 with a fine strike in the 83rd minute before Reiten completed her brace with another penalty two minutes later. Kirby then added a sixth in the 88th minute, and Kerr completed the rout in injury time.
The win moves Chelsea three points clear of Manchester City at the top of the table. Arsenal, who lost 2-1 to Manchester United on Saturday, are now six points behind the Blues.
