Argentina continued their impressive form with a 3-0 victory over Newells Old Boys in a friendly on Thursday. Lionel Messi was the star of the show, scoring all three goals for the Albiceleste.
The match was played at the Estadio Coloso del Parque in Rosario, the home of Messi's boyhood club Newell's Old Boys. The Argentines dominated the game from the start and took the lead in the 15th minute when Messi converted a penalty. He doubled his lead just before half-time with a stunning free-kick.
Messi completed his hat-trick in the second half with a close-range finish. The victory was Argentina's fourth in a row and extended their unbeaten run to 34 games.
Speaking after the match, Messi said: "It was a special night for me to score a hat-trick in my hometown. I'm always happy to play for Argentina and I'm delighted that we were able to get the win tonight."
Argentina will now turn their attention to their upcoming friendlies against Brazil and Uruguay. The two matches will be played in Saudi Arabia on November 16 and 19, respectively.
